Topo is a hunting toy that leans on texture and sound. The pom is real sheepskin, soft in the mouth and satisfying to bat, and it hangs from a full-grain leather strap you can drag and flick to set off a chase. When the tail touches the floor it makes a small ticking noise that pulls a cat straight into stalking mode.
Regina Mol built it from materials chosen to last, and it has been tested both in the lab and by an actual panel of cats. It is a supervised-play toy, so keep it for interactive sessions rather than leaving it out.
Topo works by hitting two triggers at once, the soft mouthfeel and that faint tick when the tail lands. Cats we know lose their heads over it, and it is built to survive the obsession.
